The School of Graphic Design at Academy of Art University has five paths to study Graphic Design. All programs explore problem-solving, branding, experience design, print, packaging, communication design, innovation, editorial design, typography, user experience, environmental design, and motion graphics. Students work with all forms of media including traditional, digital, emerging, and interactive. Programs for Graphic Designers include the Art/Studio Art BA and MFA, and the Graphic Design BFA and Minor. Across degree pathways, students will study graphic design, concept development, typography, motion graphics, packaging design, user-centered design, visual art writing, art direction, color theory, photography, printmaking, and advertising.
Timeframe
The College of Arts & Sciences at University of San Francisco (USF) houses the Department of Art + Architecture, home to the Design BA Program. Consisting of 49 units in the major, this interdisciplinary program explores Graphic Design, Environmental Design, and Digital Media Design. Course examples include Visual Communication I-II, Fabrication Lab, Design Fundamentals, Typography, History of Western Design, and Digital Media Design. Design Studio elective examples include Interaction Design, Exhibition Design, Critical Brand/Package Design, Copy Culture, and Information Visualization. California State Polytechnic University, Pomona opened in 1938 as the Voorhis Unit of California State Polytechnic College.

Upon completion of the program, students are prepared for careers such as Graphic Designer, UX Designer, Product Designer, Book Designer, Motion Graphics Designer, Type Designer, Interaction Designer, Visual Designer, Web Designer, Identity Designer, Editorial Designer, and Service Designer. California Institute of the Arts is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). The school is also an accredited institution member of the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD). All products are covered by the warranty policies of the their respective manufacturers.

USF Design alumni work in design studios, for start-ups, museums and other non-profit entities, and in-house for companies in just about every industry. Some go on to enroll in graduate programs at New York University (NYU), Pratt Institute, Rhode Island School of Art and Design (RISD), Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and University of the Arts London, among others. All programs provide access the Visual Arts Complex, which house state-of-the-art facilities, labs, and equipment; workshops; internship and study abroad opportunities; and seminars.

At the undergraduate level, course examples include Digital Skills for Artists, Design Issues, VR Workshop, Digital Design Lab, Graphic Design I-IV, Skills for Visualization, Image Making, Motion, Web Design, Typography I-III, Sand Professional Practice for Graphic Design. To enhance the degree, BFA students may add the Digital Arts Minor, which consists of 18 units of study. California Polytechnic State University is fully accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Founded in 1957, California State University, Fullerton is part of the 23 campus California State University (CSU) system.
